yarn that I hand dyed with red cabbage
top is with adding baking soda; bottom is with adding vinegar
knit from yarn that I dyed with acorns

I used yellow dock (brown), tansy (yellow), and comfrey (grey/green).

I used marigolds grown from the garden and annatto seeds.
Step One
Last week I grabbed two skeins of Lion Brand Fisherman’s Wool while it was still on sale at Joann’s. When experimenting with different natural dye colors I like to use a more inexpensive yarn first and test my results on it before I go forward dyeing up some of my nicer yarns. These two skeins I divided up into 2 ounce hanks. They are now ready to be soaked and have a mordant applied to them which I will explain in Step Two.
